I awoke as the alarms sounded at about 2 A.M. to the strange smell of what I thought was cigar smoke in our home. We jumped out of bed and headed down the stairs. At first we were unable to tell where the smoke was coming from since no flames were visible. Aaron then located the source in our den. Smoldering embers from our fireplace had ignited and were burning into the carpet and the paneling on the wall.
Luckily the fire was put out safely by Aaron with the extinguisher we got with our system. Our damage was limited to the den with just the smell of smoke throughout the house. Thank God no one was hurt.
I think how fortunate we were to have the system in place since my husband said he had not been able to smell anything. I was three months pregnant at the time and odd smells often bothered me. If we didn't have the MasterGuard system, and I had smelled the smoke, I might have gone back to sleep.
Our investment with MasterGuard has proven its worth. Thank You.
Sincerely, Aaron & Alison M.

In December 1996 my wife and I went to a MasterGuard fire and heat detector demonstration. It was very impressive. Because of the demonstration, which was given by a MasterGuard representative, we bought seven units for our home. On November 22, 2000, I was awakened by the smoke alarm in our bedroom. I went to the living room where I heard the other fire alarms ringing and found flames going up the wall above the fireplace mantel. I called the fire department and then tried to contain the fire with an extinguisher but to no avail. I got out of the house and waited for the fire department. The house was saved but with a lot of damage. Also I might not be here to write this letter if not for these detectors in our home.
Our MasterGuard representative was notified and was there within the week. When the house is repaired, MasterGuard detectors will be installed again.

We had our MasterGuard Alarm System installed April 21, 1990. On April 4, 1996 at 12:30 A.M. (six years after our MasterGuard alarms were installed) we had our fire. The fire started from an electrical short in the wall. Every one of our alarms worked, just like you said they would. Every one of us made it out safely, all six of us, Bob and myself, our two sons Darren and Jessie and our two grandchildren, Justin and Heath.
If you ever have anyone ask if they should get MasterGuard tell them to call me. I personally don't think I could sleep in a house that did not have a MasterGuard System installed.

My husband Marvin and I invested in a MasterGuard alarm system three years ago when we were on the farm. One and a half years ago we moved to a house in town after selling our farm. We weren't sure about where to put our alarms in our new home and when we called to ask, you were nice enough to send a representative from the Southeast Minnesota office in Kasson to help us put up the alarms. We are older now and it's hard to climb ladders and work overhead, so that was a great help to us.
Late last year my husband Marvin passed away. God bless him, and now I am alone. I don't have any relatives or close friends near by any more.
On Tuesday, December 21, 1999, I was cooking down apples to store them, and I wasn't watching the stove. I was at the kitchen table sorting coupons when the heat alarm between the kitchen and the dining room went off. It was almost directly over my head and I nearly jumped out of my skin, there was some smoke but no flames. I was surprised that the heat alarm went off when there weren't any flames. I was not more than ten feet away from that stove and did not know that the fire was there. I did not hear, see or smell anything until that alarm went off. I was amazed that the alarm rang so quickly, but also relieved that I had these alarms. If I would not have known about that fire for very much longer, I may not have gotten out of the house. (I don't move so fast anymore).
Thank you for saving my life and my home. Also, thanks to the representative for coming out right away the next day to check, test, and reactivate my alarms.
Thank you so very much and God bless you. Annie W.

I want to thank you so much for inviting us to the fire safety program that you held on March 28th. When you came to our home and demonstrated the fire safety drill and installed our system, we never thought we would be writing you this letter.
Well just 21 days later my eleven year old twin boys turned the ceiling fan on and went to bed; later that night the combination heat and smoke detector in their bedroom alarmed. The boys came running out as I came running in. The ceiling fan was smoking. The room was filling up with smoke. It was so dark you couldn't see anything. We turned off the electricity and opened the windows to clear the smoke. Luckily we were all warned in time.
We are so glad we heeded your advice to install a detector in every room. Due to the early detection of the smoke, the fan did not have a chance to burst into flame. We feel that the combination heat and smoke detector in the boy's room prevented them from suffocating.
We bought the system not sure that we could really afford it, but because of it, we still have our boys. It was the best investment we have ever made.
Thank You Again, Barbara and James P.

I thought I would get a letter off to you concerning our MasterGuard alarms.
We had invited our priest and some relatives over for supper one evening. My brother-in-law had just arrived. We knew the rest would be coming soon, so I turned the burner on to melt down the lard in the frying pan. Then I went into the living room to visit with my husband and his brother and forgot the burner was still on. But the heat alarm was fool-proof, and did not forget. Thank God for the heat alarm. It kept ringing, and we sat there visiting until we saw the reflection of flames on the walls! I don't know what we were thinking! It kept ringing until we got out to the kitchen and saw the cupboards burning. We put the fire out, then shut the alarm off. So, you see, they do work. They are 100% reliable. Even if you just keep sitting and are visiting! It keeps going MasterGuard means business! It was no false alarm. They really do work! We really do like our set.
While I'm telling you about MasterGuard, we did have another experience with our heat alarms. In October 1993, I was at work and my husband was at home. He was talking on the telephone when the heat alarm started ringing in our basement. The thermostat was stuck for our furnace and the ceiling was on fire. We don't worry about fires now... we let MasterGuard do that. Day or night-time fires, MasterGuard has it covered 24 hours a day.

On Monday, December 11, 2000, my husband and I attended a dinner and fire safety presentation. We had no intentions of buying a unit but were very impressed. We invited the representative to our home. We purchased smoke and heat detectors along with the CO detector. Thom installed them and we felt safer that night. On the 14th at 12:30 a.m. our CO detector went off. We called 911 and the fire truck came. The fireman went around the house with his CO detector and came up with readings as high as 40. He told us anything over 10 was dangerous and we should leave the house, so we went to the neighbors for the night. My husband called the furnace man and he cleaned out several pipes and left. The CO went off again and we had another more experienced furnace man out. He said the younger man was inexperienced and had not cleaned the top of the furnace. He cleaned it and now the CO detector is quiet. We are now firm believers and thankful for our CO detector.

I am writing this letter to thank you for the protection that your product gave myself and my family recently.
I was melting a candle on my stove. I had placed the candle in a loaf cake type pan and turned the dial to low. Somehow the heat was turned up to high and a fire started. My daughter and I were resting in another part of the house. We were alerted immediately by the heat alarm in the kitchen. If I had not had Masterguard the extent of the fire would have been much greater. In my haste to get the fire out, I threw water on it. Of course, this only made it worse, but then I remembered what the representative had taught me at his fire safety presentation and I smothered the fire. My copper vent hood was smoked black, but there was no other damage to my home. The smoke alarm in the hall also went off, which amazed me since there was very little smoke and it was so far away from the kitchen.
This incident has really given me a great appreciation for your product and the knowledge of your fire safety advisor. I know now that, had we been asleep when this even happened, that our lives would have been saved by Masterguard. The information from the representative, although temporarily forgotten, and the quick response time of the Masterguard heat alarm, also saved my house from more damage. Also, within two days of contacting MasterGuard, another fire safety advisor was at my house to replace the heat sensor.
Masterguard truly is a great product, with excellent representation. Masterguard's record of 28 years without a fire-related injury or death is no surprise to me!!!
Thank you so much, Masterguard.

After attending your home fire safety program in November 1992, Dennis and I had the representative stop by our home and installed a system of smoke and heat detectors. I wanted our family to be safe, but I never really expected that seven years later those alarms would save my life.
I had decided to make some potato salad for the family and had started to heat up two pots full of water on the kitchen stove. While the water was heating, I sat down to take a quick catnap. I must have slept a little bit longer than I had planned, because the next thing I knew, I was jolted awake by the clanging of the heat detector on the kitchen ceiling.
I rushed into the kitchen to find the pots burning. Thanks to the early warning, I was able to get the fire out and the burners off. As I was doing this, the photoelectric smoke detector in the hallway began to alarm too. The ringing seemed like it lasted half an hour, though I know it was just a few minutes. It was so loud I remembered wondering what the neighbors would think!
At the time we had our MasterGuard alarms installed, I remember thinking that they seemed rather spindly. But I can honestly tell you that our family has never regretted the investment. Although we usually have a house full of people, I was all alone at the time. If there had been no alarm, I can only imagine what could have happened.
Thank you for helping us avoid what could have been a terrible tragedy.
Sincerely, Janet H.
